Workforce Development
Purpose and Goals
The purpose of the Employment and Self Sufficiency Committee is to identify and reduce barriers faced by the underemployed and unemployed living in North San Diego County by improving the connections between employment opportunities, job referral organizations and those seeking work.
The Employment and Self Sufficiency Committee has been collecting current employment data about the North County Region to identify areas of job growth and existing career ladders. The Committee has also been conducting a job gap analysis to identify gaps in jobs, resources, and services that constitute a barrier to those seeking employment. The Committee works to increase participation to include educational institutions, employers, community agencies and individuals from within the community. The Committee has set a goal to become a reliable source of employment information to community agencies, residents and employers about employment trends, job gaps and growth in the North County.
The Committee works closely with City of Oceanside and Escondido, San Diego Workforce Partnership, Mira Costa College and CSUSM.
